Places I’ve Been, Part II

This morning I started a post that I intended to be this one, but then it veered off in another direction. That happens a lot, and one of the most fun things about doing a blog is discovering what I actually want to write about. But now that one is posted, and I can get back to what caused me to sit down at my desk this morning.

As I said, I’ve been to a lot of places over the years, but the other day–and I don’t know why it occurred to me to do this–I came up with a long list of the other kinds of places I have been.  Here’s a start.  Send a comment if you’ve been there too or have more to add!

I’ve been:

At my wits end

Between a rock and a hard place

Up shit creek (luckily sometimes with a paddle)

In the doghouse

Behind the times

Over it (whatever “it” is at the moment)

Down in the dumps

Under suspicion

On tenterhooks

Through hell and high water

Above it all

In cahoots (anybody know what that means?)

At a standstill

Out of touch

In denial

Off my rocker

Beside myself

Within my rights

In hot water

I’ve also been in awe, in wonder, in heaven—in short, I’ve been over the moon and on Cloud Nine on a pretty regular basis throughout my life.  I hope when you look at all the “places” you’ve been that you can say the same.

Apparently I’ve been here too, but have no memory of it!
